Kinbasket Lake Resort is located 55 km northwest of Golden, about a 40-minute drive toward Revelstoke. The last 5 km from Highway 1 is a scenic gravel mountain road. We recommend keeping your speed below 30 km/h and enjoying the winding route through dense forest — you might even spot a mama bear with her cubs or hear wild birds chirping along the way

Immerse yourself in the rustic charm of our campground, where the melodic rumble of the CP Rail line brings a blend of adventure and nostalgia. With 10/12 trains gliding by daily, the rhythm of the rails becomes part of the natural symphony. While light sleepers may notice the gentle rumble of passing train, most people love it and some wait for it
Majestic Kinbasket Lake starts filling up by the end of June and water level become good enough to launch big boats at the beginning of July. From July through September, Kinbasket Lake transforms into a stunning playground for water activities, including boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and much more.
Explore Kinbasket Lake’s hidden world of trails and terrain during May and June when lake bed is empty of water, perfect for an adrenaline-pumping ATV riding adventure amidst rugged beauty and excitement

Kinbasket lake is a reservoir used to produce electricity where water level is controlled by hydroelectric dam. Lake water level is lowest and lake bed becomes visible during the month of May-June. During this time, 360 degree wide-open lake bed becomes available for all kinds of off terrain vehicles riding and adventures were Beaver River and Columbia River are still available to fish, swim and canoe.
Yes — it’s true! Many of our guests are pleasantly surprised by how few mosquitoes there are at Kinbasket Lake Resort. We often hear, “I can’t believe there are hardly any mosquitoes here.”
You may notice a small number early in the season, typically until the end of June. Once summer arrives, evenings are comfortable and enjoyable, allowing you to relax around your campfire well into the night with little disturbance. Thanks to our dry climate and the gentle evening breeze flowing from Glacier National Park through the Beaver Valley and across the lake, mosquito activity remains minimal throughout the summer months.

Kinbasket Lake Resort is fortunate to enjoy some of the most pleasant weather in the mountains, thanks to a unique local micro-climate. Located at the meeting point of two river valleys, our setting typically brings more sunshine and significantly less rainfall than surrounding areas.
For the most accurate forecast, we recommend checking the Weather Network for Revelstoke, as local conditions here align more closely with Revelstoke than with Golden. In general, guests can expect noticeably sunnier days and reduced rainfall — often around half to two-thirds less than regional forecasts suggest.
Kinbasket Lake Resort offers a safe and natural space where children can laugh, explore, and create lasting memories. Surrounded by the beauty of the lake and the adventure of our forested setting, kids are free to roam, play, and discover at their own pace. With a rustic playground, wide open areas to run and explore, and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, our resort is a place where families can relax while children of all ages enjoy the simple joys of outdoor play in a peaceful and caring environment.
